Sunderland return to Premier League duty against Fulham this afternoon, and Régis Le Bris has made six changes. According to Sunderland Echo, Jocelin Ta Bi is handed his full Sunderland debut after an encouraging outing at Oxford United this week, while Granit Xhaka is eased back on to the bench after an ankle injury.

Le Bris had flagged a progressive plan for Xhaka’s comeback after almost a month out, noting it helps that all midfielders are now available. The head coach continues to take a cautious approach with the 33-year-old.

Noah Sadiki starts at the base of midfield with Habib Diarra and Enzo Le Fée ahead. Ta Bi operates from the right and Nilson Angulo gets the nod on the left.

With Reinildo unavailable and Dennis Cirkin missing through an injury issue, Trai Hume switches to left back. It is not his natural role, though he has covered there on a number of occasions.

Fulham welcome back Tom Cairney from injury, the midfielder takes a place on the bench. Le Bris has outlined a two-per-position approach for his young wingers, preferring short bursts over sustained runs of three to six matches.

Sunderland are hopeful Bertrand Traoré could resume full training next week after a knee injury.
