Régis Le Bris says Jocelin Ta Bi could rejoin Sunderland’s squad at Wolves this weekend, according to Sunderland Echo.
The winger injured his ankle on his full Premier League debut against Fulham earlier this year and initially faced a season-ending lay-off after surgery. He has progressed quicker than expected and trained with team-mates this week, so Le Bris is hopeful he can include him at Molineux.
Le Bris added that Bertrand Traoré and Nilson Angulo are also close after stepping up their recoveries at the Academy of Light. The pair might have a better chance of involvement when Manchester United visit the Stadium of Light next weekend.
Wide options have been scarce in recent weeks, and Le Bris cautioned that any returning winger will need time to find top form after a spell out.
He said the trio fit what Sunderland want in the role and can influence games, but immediate impact cannot be assumed. In his view they can threaten one-v-one, run in behind, deliver crosses and combine in tight areas. If their sharpness returns quickly that would help, though patience may be required.
