Rémi Himbert, 17, marked his first senior start by scoring his maiden professional goal for Olympique Lyonnais in the Europa League against PAOK on Thursday night.

PAOK struck first in the 20th minute, and Himbert levelled at 1-1 in the 33rd. According to Statsdufoot, at 17 years and 334 days he is now OL’s youngest European scorer, surpassing Karim Benzema at 17 years and 352 days.

Played through by Afonso Moreira, he controlled with his right foot, stepped inside Tomasz Kedziora and curled a right-footed effort beyond Antonis Tsiftsis.

Benzema opened his own account against Rosenborg in the Champions League on 6 December 2005, in a match that finished 2-1.

The Moselle-born forward joined the Rhône club in 2023.
