According to Globo, Brazilian side Remo have started negotiations to sign Victor Cantillo, with the Colombian midfielder potentially moving from Huracán in Argentina during the upcoming transfer window. Cantillo, 31, is reportedly being targeted for a permanent deal, with talks initiated ahead of the window that runs from July 10 to September 2.
Cantillo’s career has seen frequent movement across South American clubs. The midfielder was initially developed at Atlético Nacional in 2013, before gaining prominence at Junior Barranquilla between 2017 and 2019. His performances there led to a move to Corinthians, who acquired 70% of his economic rights in 2020 for approximately R$18.8 million, after an initial loan spell.
During his four-year stay in São Paulo, Cantillo featured in 118 matches—77 as a starter—and scored two goals. He was a regular contributor when fit, but injuries in 2023 hampered his playing time and ultimately saw him lose his place in the squad. That led to a return to Junior Barranquilla, where he accumulated 51 appearances during the subsequent campaign.
In 2024, Cantillo joined Huracán, Argentina’s reigning champions, but his impact has again been limited by fitness issues. The Colombian has only managed four appearances for the Buenos Aires club this year. His most recent match was on May 27, when Huracán faced Corinthians in the Copa Sudamericana group stage—Cantillo was on the bench for that encounter.
The deal under discussion would see Cantillo join Remo on a full transfer. At 31, his experience in Brazil and Argentina, and familiarity with continental competition, would add depth to Remo's midfield options. For Cantillo, the move represents a chance to restart his career after an injury-hit spell and limited action at Huracán.
Remo are working to conclude the deal in time for the Brazilian transfer window. The negotiations, first reported by journalist André Hernan and confirmed by Globo, are said to be advanced, but final terms are yet to be agreed.
