Rennes are exploring a move for Bryan Reynolds, with discussions said to be under way with Westerlo as they continue to bolster their squad.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Rennes have started talks with the Belgian club over the 24-year-old right-back. Foot Mercato also reports that the Ligue 1 side are targeting Sunderland forward Eliezer Mayenda, 21, a Sochaux academy product.
Rennes have already made three additions. Midfielder Adrien Thomasson has joined from Lens on a free, 32, under contract to 2029, and forward Issa Soumaré arrives from Le Havre on a free, 25, to 2030. Centre-back Gonçalo Oliveira signs from Benfica, 19, to 2031, for about €three and a half million.
Reynolds has been with Westerlo for four years, having previously spent time at Roma in 2021. He is under contract until 2027.
At right-back, Rennes have Przemyslaw Frankowski, who returned early this week after a disrupted season caused by an incomplete pre-season and injuries. The position was also covered last term by Mahamadou Nagida and Alidu Seidu.
The left-footed Nagida, 20 and tied to 2029, could compete more with Quentin Merlin, while Seidu, 26 and contracted to 2029, could be tempted by a new challenge. Rennes will play in the Europa League next season.
