Cucurella has established himself as a key player following his big money move from Brighton in the summer of 2022.

After a difficult first season the 27-year-old has bounced back and is now a firm fan favourite and a vital part of the team.

Cucurella further endeared himself to fans as he publicly criticised the club’s project in a wide ranging and explosive interview with The Athletic.

It’s likely those comments won’t go down well within the club, and it’s believed Cucurella wanted to send the best possible message to the fans and Chelsea.

However, this summer is critical for the Spaniard’s future as he’ll have just two years remaining on his current deal.

He signed an improved deal last year, but the length remained the same, and it’ll be interesting if Chelsea extend it or look to move him on.

Cucurella has spoken of how it would be hard to turn down an approach from Barcelona, but Dario AS have reported Atletico Madrid have made him their top target.

The report adds they followed his progress at both Eibar and Getafe, and view him as a perfect fit, but Chelsea’s stance is he’s not for sale.

Despite strong links to Real Madrid it’s been reported by a Spanish journalist a move to Los Blancos won’t be possible this summer for Enzo Fernandez.

It’s said his long contract until 2032, and reported price tag of €100m make a move not possible, unless Madrid make some big money sales.

Fernandez has made it clear Madrid is a club he wants to join, and it’ll be interesting how things play out this summer, especially with there being a World Cup as well.
