Chelsea are one of four Premier League teams keeping an eye on Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez according to reports.

The Blues lost Levi Colwill to an ACL injury before the start of the season, and despite public pleas from Enzo Maresca for a new centre back, his wish wasn’t granted.

Chelsea have struggled for consistency at centre back, but it appears Maresca has settled on Trevoh Chalobah and Wesley Fofana as his first choice pairing.

Chelsea interested in Joel Ordonez

Chelsea recorded back to back clean sheets in the Premier League for the first time since May against Tottenham and Wolves.

Supporters would love to see a new centre back arrive in January, but how likely that is currently remains unclear.

John Terry has stated he’d love to see Marc Guehi back at the club, and now Flashscore have reported the Blues are interested in Ordonez.

The report adds Newcastle, West Ham, Aston Villa are also interested, whilst Italian giants Inter Milan are fans of the defender.

Flashscore add Chelsea are prioritising a new defender in 2026, and Ordonez would certainly fit the bill of how they recruit.

Chelsea have previously been linked with Ordonez, and the 21-year-old has put in a series of impressive performances for Club Brugge since joining the club in 2023.

Ordonez has scored one goal in 15 appearances in all competitions this season, and is under contract until 2029, but this could be his last season in Belgium.

Chelsea sign 16-year-old centre back

Whilst the Blues are looking for a centre back for the first team, they secured a deal for one for the future on Friday.

Chelsea completed the signing of Deinner Ordonez, and the defender will join the club in January 2028 when he turns 18.

The Blues are understood to have beaten off interest from Liverpool, with Ordonez described as one of the best players in South America in his age group.
