Premier League heavyweights Chelsea have reportedly set their sights on Francesco Pio Esposito and Dusan Vlahovic. According to reports from England via Calciomercato, the Blues are keen to strengthen their attacking department in the summer.
Vlahovic’s contract in Turin expired at the end of June. Despite Juventus’ best efforts to extend his deal, the 26-year-old has been reluctant to pledge his future to the Allianz Stadium. Meanwhile, Besiktas have offered him a lucrative contract in Istanbul, leapfrogging other interested clubs in the race.
Despite Besiktas’ generous proposal, Vlahovic is still waiting for a call from a top European club. There’s little doubt that Chelsea would be a more attractive destination, although it’s worth noting that Juventus have not lost interest in keeping him in Turin.
However, Vlahovic would have to take a substantial pay cut to stay at Juventus, something he doesn’t seem willing to accept. On the other hand, Chelsea can offer him the financial package he is looking for without flinching.
While Vlahovic could be a realistic target for Chelsea, luring Francesco Pio Esposito away from Inter may prove a more daunting task. Indeed, Cristian Chivu has made the Italian starlet central to his long-term project at San Siro, giving the Nerazzurri no reason to entertain offers for the 21-year-old.
Furthermore, Esposito’s contract runs until 2030, which puts Inter in a strong bargaining position. Therefore, if Chelsea are genuinely interested in signing the rising Nerazzurri star, they would likely have to blow Beppe Marotta’s mind with a stratospheric bid.
In addition to Vlahovic and Esposito, the Blues have also identified Victor Osimhen, Ollie Watkins, and Igor Thiago as potential attacking reinforcements.
