Estevao suffered a grade four hamstring injury against Manchester United, which has potentially put his participation at the World Cup in doubt.

Calum McFarlane has confirmed Estevao won’t play for Chelsea again this season, and he ends his debut campaign with eight goals and four assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.

It had been reported Estevao wanted to return to Brazil to undergo treatment and it’s thought Chelsea have accepted his request not to undergo surgery.

However, according to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, Chelsea are playing hardball over allowing Estevao to travel to Brazil for treatment.

The report adds Chelsea have accepted his decision not to undergo surgery as it would ruin his chances of playing in the World Cup.

Globo Esporte state Estevao wants to be closer to his family and the Brazilian Football Confederation to show Carlo Ancelotti he can be fit for the World Cup.
