Report: Chelsea step up interest in €25m star, hope to beat Arsenal to his signature | OneFootball

Chelsea have stepped up their interest in Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera as they look to sign a new centre back according to reports.

The Blues are once again set for a busy summer, with the club looking to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker to bolster Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Chelsea could look to fund their business by selling as many as seven or eight players, with a number of squad members surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea step up interest in Mosquera

Whilst a striker is the main priority Chelsea are also looking to add a centre back this summer to bolster their defensive ranks.

The Blues had identified Dean Huijsen as their main target, but the 20-year-old has now agreed to join Spanish giants Real Madrid.

However, it appears the Blues have identified another target, and Caught Offside have reported they are ready to step up their interest in Valencia’s Mosquera.

The report adds Mosquera has a number of suitors as he prepares to enter the final 12 months of his contract, with Arsenal also said to be interested.

Caught Offside add Valencia could sell the 20-year-old for as little as €25m in order to avoid losing him on a free next summer.

Mosquera has made 40 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring once, whist he’s also got seven caps for the Spain under-21 side.

Guehi and Hato targets

Chelsea are set to have a reshuffle at centre back with Renato Veiga, Trevoh Chalobah and Axel Disasi likely candidates to leave.

Benoit Badiashile’s future is also unclear, whilst Wesley Fofana has been linked with a move away following another injury plagued campaign.

Having missed out on Huijsen Chelsea are believed to still be keen on Marc Guehi, and the Crystal Palace captain could be available for a cut price deal as he prepares to enter the final 12 months of his contract.

Hato is another target, although he’s a left back who can play at centre back, and it’s believed Chelsea are seriously considering a move for the Ajax teenager.
