Fiorentina are thinking about resuming their pursuit of Inter Milan midfielder Kristjan Asllani this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Kristjan Asllani has once again come to the end of a season at Inter Milan with the feeling he is at a crossroads.

The Albanian has still not nailed down a regular starting role for the Nerazzurri.

Three years on from his arrival from Empoli, Asllani is clearly the backup to Hakan Calhanoglu.

Of course, if the Turk were to leave, then Asllani could have the opportunity to play more under Cristian Chivu.

However, there is hardly a guarantee of that. Moreover, the standard of the 22-year-old’s performances – above all, in terms of consistency – has raised doubts.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, one of the main suitors for Asllani should the Albanian leave is Fiorentina.

La Viola have targeted the Albanian international in the past.

At the moment, Fiorentina are still sorting out what their coaching situation will look like. A return of Stefano Pioli looks to be the most likely prospect, though.

And one thing that seems obvious is that Fiorentina will have to sign a midfielder.

Kristjan Asllani could rise to the top of the Tuscans’ list, reports the Gazzetta.

It is not exactly clear how much Inter would want for Asllani. They paid a fee of around €14 million to sign him from Empoli in 2022.
