Marcus Rashford has made a decisive call on his immediate future, choosing to shut the door on a possible return to Manchester United despite renewed interest from Old Trafford.

According to an exclusive report from The Touchline, the England international does not believe in United’s current sporting direction and feels his ambitions are better suited elsewhere.

Rashford is currently convinced that he is part of a project capable of competing for the biggest honours in European football at Barcelona

His confidence is rooted not only in the environment at Barcelona, but also in the presence of Hansi Flick, whom the forward sees as a figure capable of guiding him toward continental success.

No to Manchester United

Manchester United’s interest has intensified in recent days following changes in the managerial role.

The club’s interim head coach, Michael Carrick, is understood to be keen on bringing Rashford back for next season and has communicated that intention directly to the player.

Carrick believes Rashford could play a central role in rebuilding the squad and restoring attacking identity at United.

However, that approach has not altered the player’s position. From Rashford’s perspective, the uncertainty surrounding United’s long-term vision remains a major concern.

The forward is reluctant to step back into a project he feels is still searching for direction, especially when compared to the clarity he currently experiences in Barcelona.

Settled in La Liga

From a contractual standpoint, Barcelona remain in a position of strength, as they hold a signed purchase option that gives them full control over the situation.

Should they choose to activate it, Manchester United have no legal mechanism to prevent the transfer once the agreed €30 million fee is paid.

United’s only possible leverage would come through persuasion rather than power, meaning convincing Rashford himself to walk away from Barcelona and return to England.

At present, that scenario appears highly unlikely, as Rashford is settled in Spain and content with his role under Flick.

While he is not an automatic starter, he has embraced his position within the squad and has become one of the most effective impact players in Europe
