Inter loaned Valentin Carboni out to Genoa in the summer, hoping he would gain experience at Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

However, the Argentine forward has found his first-team opportunities hard to come by under both Patrick Vieira and Daniele De Rossi.

Indeed, he has made just three Serie A starts so far.

After amassing only 354 minutes of top-flight action without making a single goal contribution, Carboni looks set to return to San Siro.

Genoa are ready to cancel Carboni’s loan stint, yet Inter cannot offer the player regular first-team minutes.

Therefore, the Serie A leaders are exploring another temporary move, with Cagliari reportedly interested in signing the Argentine starlet.

However, Carboni appears to be more inclined to return to his homeland than pursue another short-term spell in Italy.
