Inter Milan veteran Henrikh Mkhitaryan could reportedly stay at the club for one more season despite Oaktree’s new transfer policy.
According to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri are mulling a short-term extension to retain the 37-year-old’s experience.
Though it shapes up to be a transitional summer at San Siro, Henrikh Mkhitaryan may not fall victim to the expected overhaul.
Instead, the former Arsenal, Manchester United, and Roma midfielder could pledge his allegiance to Inter colors for another season.
Indeed, he could be the only veteran star to receive a new contract in the summer following another impressive season.
Mkhitaryan’s current deal at Giuseppe Meazza expires in June.
However, unlike Yann Sommer, Francesco Acerbi, and others, he has a chance of staying at the club for one more year.
Despite being in the market for a new midfielder, Inter are reluctant to let Mkhitaryan leave just yet.
On the other hand, the runaway Serie A leaders could sanction Davide Frattesi’s sale after blocking his exit in January.
Indeed, the Italian star could finally find a new accommodation in the summer.
Furthermore, Hakan Calhanoglu’s future at the club is hanging by a thread amid growing interest from Galatasaray.
