Yasin Ayari has moved into that familiar Premier League space, highly rated, still improving, and suddenly attracting heavyweight attention. According to Caught Offside, Liverpool are among the clubs tracking the Brighton midfielder after what was described as an “impressive breakthrough season on the south coast”.
The facts are straightforward. Ayari is 22, a Sweden international, and his stock has climbed quickly after 29 Premier League appearances, three goals and three assists last season. Brighton, who rarely sleep on these situations, have already “opened talks over a new long-term contract”. His current deal runs until 2027, so there is no immediate pressure, though there is obvious logic in moving now before the market shifts again.
Liverpool being linked is no surprise. Ayari is young, mobile and positionally flexible. He is also, as the report puts it, “energetic, technically tidy and capable of playing in different midfield roles”. Clubs at the top end of the table value that. Managers value that even more.
There is also the basic market reality. If a midfielder can operate in multiple roles, carry intensity and still contribute end product, attention follows. Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler calling him a “bright player” is a neat summary, even if the wider league already seems to agree.

Brighton know exactly what they are dealing with here. Ayari “fits the familiar Brighton model” and that usually means one of two outcomes, a profitable sale or a fresh contract that protects long-term value. They are “not in a weak position” and that matters.
Transfermarkt values him at €35m, but valuation at this stage is mostly theatre. Once Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle start circling, numbers move quickly. The article notes this could become “one of the summer’s most competitive midfield races” and that sounds about right.
For Liverpool, this is a profile call as much as anything else. Ayari is not yet a headline midfielder, but he is exactly the sort of player smart clubs examine before the fee explodes.
From a Liverpool perspective, this is the sort of report that brings more questions than certainty. Ayari sounds promising, and there is enough in the numbers and the scouting description to understand why the club would be interested. A 22-year-old with Premier League experience, technical quality and tactical flexibility is easy to like.
Still, there is a difference between being a good player and being the right player for Liverpool. That is where the uncertainty sits. If Brighton are already pushing a new deal, then they clearly see him as someone whose price is only going one way. Liverpool fans have seen this before. Once multiple clubs are involved, a sensible deal can become an inflated one very quickly.
There is also the question of priority. Liverpool need midfielders who can make an impact, not just hold resale value. Ayari may well develop into that level of player, but supporters would be fair to wonder whether this is a move for now or a move for two years down the line.
So yes, there is plenty to admire. He looks sharp, modern and adaptable. But if this turns into a bidding battle, some fans may hesitate. Interest is understandable. Full conviction is harder.
