Manchester United Facing Costly Rasmus Hojlund Exit as Juventus Show Interest

Hojlund’s Old Trafford Struggles Continue

Manchester United’s £64 million investment in Rasmus Hojlund was meant to secure a long-term attacking solution, but the Danish striker’s time at Old Trafford has been anything but smooth. Arriving from Atalanta in 2023 with high expectations, Hojlund himself described his move as a “dream come true.” However, his struggles in front of goal have left both club and player reconsidering their options.

Hojlund has only managed 23 goals and three assists in 77 appearances for United, far from the prolific form the club had hoped for. While flashes of talent have been evident, consistency remains an issue. With United’s attacking woes continuing, rumours of a potential exit have gained traction.

Juventus and Napoli Interested in Cut-Price Deal

According to TuttoJuve, Juventus are now monitoring Hojlund’s situation closely. Napoli are also reportedly interested, with suggestions that the Red Devils could use the striker in a swap deal for Victor Osimhen.

The Italian outlet claims United are ready to take a significant financial hit, with a reported asking price of just €50 million (£41.3 million). That would mark a considerable loss on their original outlay and suggest that the club is losing faith in the young striker’s ability to turn things around.

Hojlund’s Own Doubts About Manchester United

What may be most concerning for United supporters is the claim that Hojlund himself wants to leave. The report from TuttoJuve states that the 22-year-old has “lost faith in the Red Devils” and would favour a return to Italy.

This raises questions about the atmosphere within the squad and whether United’s ongoing struggles under have created wider concerns among their players. If Hojlund no longer sees a future for himself at Old Trafford, the club may have little choice but to sell at a loss and reinvest elsewhere.

A Transfer Gamble That Hasn’t Paid Off

Manchester United’s recruitment strategy has often come under scrutiny, and Hojlund’s case is yet another example of a big-money signing failing to live up to expectations. While still young, his struggles mirror other high-profile arrivals who have failed to justify their price tag.

United will now have to weigh their options carefully. Holding on to a player who no longer believes in the project could be damaging, yet selling him for a cut-price fee could be seen as another example of financial mismanagement.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

From a Manchester United supporter’s perspective, this situation is frustrating but not entirely surprising. Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure, United have made a habit of signing talented players without the right structure to help them succeed.

Hojlund came into a dysfunctional attacking setup, expected to lead the line without adequate support or service. It’s hardly shocking that his confidence has taken a hit. If he has truly “lost faith” in the club, it’s not just a reflection of his own struggles but of deeper issues at United.

Selling him for a loss so soon would be a bitter pill to swallow. It feels like another Jadon Sancho or Romelu Lukaku situation—talented forwards who, for different reasons, never found their place at Old Trafford. However, cutting their losses now may be better than letting his value drop even further.

Some United fans might argue he deserves another season, especially if the team’s midfield and creative options improve. But if Juventus and Napoli are offering a quick escape, United’s decision-makers may see this as the best chance to move on.
