The situation has become even more interesting because Mourinho already appears to have another name in mind. 

Reports claim the incoming Real Madrid manager wants the club to pursue Joao Gomes from Wolverhampton Wanderers as part of his midfield rebuild.

Real Madrid are expected to make several important changes this summer after a difficult campaign, and the midfield department is one area where internal discussions are already intensifying behind closed doors.

As far as Camavinga is concerned, he has struggled to assert his authority in a season when everyone expected him to play a bigger role, but that has no happened.

And the outlet mentions that Joao Gomes fits that profile almost perfectly.

Meanwhile, recent reports had strongly linked the Brazilian with Atletico Madrid, but Mourinho’s involvement could now completely change the direction of the transfer race.

Another important factor is Jorge Mendes. The super-agent maintains a strong relationship with Wolves and could become crucial if Real Madrid decide to accelerate negotiations for the Brazilian midfielder.

That is what makes this story so important, as Real Madrid must decide whether to fully back Mourinho’s decision or continue trusting a long-term project built around younger players like Camavinga. 

If the club receives a major offer for the Frenchman, the situation could suddenly accelerate very quickly.
