Newcastle United failed in the summer transfer window with moves for a right-winger and a centre-back.
The Magpies were restricted by the PSR problems they faced in the summer and most of their transfer dealings were focused on selling players and improving the financial situation of the club.
However, it is an open secret that their squad needs a new right-winger and they are keen to address that issue in the upcoming transfer window.
According to TBR Football, Newcastle are targeting a move for PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko in the January transfer window.
Eddie Howe’s side have the left-wing position sorted with Anthony Gordon cementing his place in the side in Newcastle’s attack alongside striker Alexander Isak.
They need a new right-winger to complete their attack and the Belgian international has been identified to take that position in the team.
The club plan to offload Miguel Almiron in January and they would need a new player in the right-wing position.

Bakayoko is a crucial player for PSV Eindhoven and he helped the club win the Eredivisie title in 2023/24 after scoring 12 goals in 33 appearances.
He has scored five goals already this season in 15 appearances for the club, keeping up his fine form from last season.
Howe has used Almiron and Jacob Murphy in the right-wing position this season but it is clear that they need an upgrade in that position and a new signing like Bakayoko would complete their attack and add more firepower.
Newcastle’s major focus in the upcoming transfer window will be to generate funds through sales and they are reportedly looking to offload Almiron, Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson.
After having a quiet summer transfer window, the Magpies are expected to be busy in strengthening their squad next year in order to provide Howe the right platform to take the club back into European places.
