Newcastle United are reportedly not prioritizing a move for midfielder Davide Frattesi despite “exploratory” contact with Inter Milan.
This according to UK tabloid the Daily Mail. They report that the Magpies had sounded out a deal for the 25-year-old in case injuries limited their options in midfield, but are prioritizing a forward.
Reportedly, the 25-year-old is a target for the Premier League side to bolster their midfield in the final couple days of the transfer window.
Newcastle reportedly made Inter an offer to sign Frattesi on an initial loan deal. This would contain a purchase obligation, but one which is conditional and wouldn’t necessarily be triggered.

According to the Daily Mail, however, Newcastle do not consider signing Frattesi to be a priority.
The Magpies have indeed made contact with Inter regarding the former Sassuolo midfielder, the UK tabloid reports.
However, the reason for this is that Newcastle have been waiting on updates regarding the fitness of midfielders Sandro Tonali and Joelinton.
Were those starting midfielders to suffer serious injuries that would leave Newcastle light in midfield, the Premier League side would see Frattesi as a vital reinforcement.
However, the Daily Mail reports, Newcastle’s actual priority is to sign a forward before the transfer window closes.
