Report – The shirt number Franco Mastantuono is likely to wear at Real Madrid | OneFootball

According to a recent update shared by Real Madrid insider NoKai on X, Franco Mastantuono is expected to wear the number 25 shirt at the club, provided there are no more player departures this summer.

The young Argentine talent, already creating a buzz in Madrid, will have “Mastantuono” on the back of his jersey instead of his first name, unless he chooses to object to the marketing department’s decision.

At this stage, the decision appears to be final. NoKai has made it clear that unless there are last-minute exits or unexpected changes, the number 25 will be reserved for Mastantuono for the 2025/26 season.

This puts to rest previous speculation which had suggested that the talented midfielder would take the number 16 shirt.

Dream of number 10 blocked by Mbappe

As for his personal preference, Mastantuono had set his sights on the number 10 shirt at Real Madrid. However, that iconic number has already been handed to Kylian Mbappe.

Addressing this, the youngster stated, “I would like to, but if he takes it, it’s his right; he’s an idol.“

His respect for Mbappe is clear, and he seems happy to work his way up while donning a different number.

Meanwhile, the number 9 shirt is also unavailable due to the ongoing tussle between Endrick and Gonzalo Garcia for that jersey. This further limited Mastantuono’s options and solidified the decision to go with 25.

It is worth noting that the Argentine arrived in Madrid nearly two weeks ahead of his 18th birthday, a move believed to be aimed at easing his adaptation to the club and life in the Spanish capital.

The official unveiling of Mastantuono is expected to happen on August 14, which is the day he turns 18.

With the shirt number settled and the official announcement around the corner, Real Madrid fans can look forward to seeing their latest prodigy begin his journey at the Santiago Bernabeu.
