FC Bayern are facing the next tough test in the premier class. Harry Kane returns to an old stomping ground in the top match against Arsenal – with clear expectations.

After the 6-2 win against Freiburg, the England international striker showed great respect for the upcoming opponent. Kane expects „a battle“ in the clash with the Gunners – and at the same time clearly addressed the strengths of the Londoners. „They are very dangerous with set pieces,“ explained the 32-year-old. „And then they also have some great players in attack who can cause us problems.“

Nevertheless, the goalscorer is confident going into the match: „We’re going in with the feeling that we can hurt them too.“ He is currently in good form – both personally and as a team. „But I don’t want to overrate the whole thing. It’s another Champions League match against a really strong opponent – and we’re going there to win.“

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany was also emphatic about the challenge. The coach said: „I don’t know if there are many better teams in Europe at the moment than Arsenal.“ He also highlighted the standards in particular: „They are the best team in Europe at set-pieces. I think that’s a good challenge.“ That’s where Munich have shown weaknesses recently.

For Kane personally, the return to North London means more than just a CL game. „The Emirates Stadium is obviously very familiar territory for me,“ explained the ex-Tottenham captain. „After such a long time at Tottenham, the game is a bit more significant. But ultimately it’s just another game, an important one for us. I try not to let the emotions get the better of me too much.“

On Sunday, the striker plans to watch his former colleagues‘ north London derby against Arsenal live. „It will be great and interesting,“ said Kane, „and of course I wish Tottenham the best of luck.“ The attacker was already out and about in the British capital during the international break: „We went to a nice restaurant in Mayfair, I spent a bit of time with my wife.“ The Englishman only regretted one thing: there was no time for a round of golf this time.
