Barcelona have secured a 20 percent sell-on clause as part of Ansu Fati’s permanent transfer to AS Monaco.

The La Masia graduate completed his move on Tuesday after Monaco activated the €11 million purchase option agreed during his loan spell.

Barcelona confirmed in their official announcement that they had retained a percentage of any future sale, but the exact figure was not initially disclosed.

Barca protect future value after Ansu exit

According to Nice-Matin (h/t Mundo Deportivo), that percentage stands at 20 percent, meaning Barcelona could still benefit financially if Ansu earns a major move later in his career.

The clause shows that Barca have not completely closed the door on Ansu’s potential value, even if his time at Camp Nou has now ended.

The report also claims Ansu made a significant financial sacrifice to stay at Monaco permanently, accepting a lower salary while signing a long-term contract until 2030.

For Barcelona, the deal offers immediate and future benefits. The club receive €11 million, remove a high salary from the wage bill, and keep a stake in a possible future transfer.

It is a painful exit because Ansu once represented so much hope for the post-Messi era. But from a sporting and financial point of view, this is a clean solution.

His time at the Catalan club had clearly come to an end, and it is helpful that he now has the chance to earn continuity at a club where he spent last season.

Now the best outcome is simple: Ansu rebuilds his career in Monaco, and Barcelona remain protected if his talent fully shines again.
