Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco reportedly came close to joining Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023.
According to Matteo Moretto via FCInter1908, the Bavarians were desperate to sign the 28-year-old due to a failed pursuit of Theo Hernandez.
With Alphonso Davies struggling with injuries, the record-time German champions were keen to reinforce the left flank.
Furthermore, they were hopeful of signing Hernandez, who was AC Milan’s standout performer at the time.

Hernandez was Bayern’s top priority, but Milan had no interest in selling their captain.
Therefore, the Allianz Arena giants had to devise a backup plan, shifting their attention toward Federico Dimarco.
However, Bayern’s approach fell on Inter’s deaf ears.
Like Milan, the Nerazzurri were not ready to discuss the sale of one of their best players.
That decision has proved spot on, with Dimarco evolving into one of the best wingbacks on the planet.
Indeed, the Italian ace has tallied 13 Serie A assists this season, emerging as the most creative player in the league.
