The sale of Mehdi Taremi to Olympiacos will be worth around €9 million to Inter Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They take into account the transfer fee as well as saving on the Iranian’s wages.

The Iranian only just joined Inter last summer. The Nerazzurri signed him on a free transfer after his contract with Porto expired.

However, Taremi never quite lived up to expectations at Inter.

Therefore, Inter took the decision to sell the 33-year-old this summer, just one year after he had arrived.

There were numerous clubs to show an interest in Taremi.

These ranged from Premier League clubs like Fulham and Leeds United to Brazilian clubs Botafogo and Flamengo.

However, it is Greece where Taremi will in fact be playing his football next season.

Olympiacos agreed a deal with Inter in the last few days. Then, they also reached an agreement with the player.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Inter will receive a transfer fee of around €2.5 million for Taremi.

That is a relatively nominal fee, reflecting the fact that the transfer deadline is looming.

However, it still represents a pure capital gain for Inter, considering that they signed Taremi without a transfer fee.

Meanwhile, the Corriere note, Inter will be saving on Taremi’s wages worth €3 million net per season.

Therefore, the total amount that the deal is worth to Inter’s accounts is €9 million.
