Inter Milan have reportedly decided to make Francesco Pio Esposito a part of their first team squad next season.

The 20-year-old is coming off the back of two seasons on loan at Spezia in Serie B. Last campaign in particularly was an outstanding one, with Pio Esposito scored nineteen goals for the Ligurians.

And Pio Esposito is building on that momentum at the Club World Cup. He capped off a standout display against River Plate in Inter’s final group stage by scoring the all-important opening goal.

As Alfredo Pedulla reveals, though, Inter have resisted a lot of interest in Pio Esposito along the way.

In particular, it is hardly a secret that Napoli have long considered the young striker a dream target.

There have been other offers. Reportedly, Manchester United and Leicester City tried to bring Pio Esposito to England in January.

However, it was Napoli who really pushed.

According to Pedulla, Napoli went as high as €30 million in their offer. They gave Inter the opportunity to cash in on Pio Esposito for a huge profit before he had even turned twenty.

But Inter held firm. They have always seen Pio Esposito as a player with a big future in their project, and so they firmly rejected Napoli’s bid.
