This week, it’s now or never for Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain to work out a transfer for Manuel Ugarte, with the summer window closing on Friday.

The PSG midfielder made 37 appearances across all competitions for the reigning Ligue 1 champions last season and recorded three assists.

Ugarte began the first half of the campaign in impressive fashion, but his minutes fell off in the second half as he was used more as a rotational player rather than a starter.

As a result, a move to the Red Devils could jumpstart his career after a rollercoaster 2023-24 season with PSG.

On Saturday, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano noted that the agreement is in its “final steps.” Moreover, on Sunday, Romano reported that the final details for Ugarte’s arrival at Old Trafford hinge on Scott McTominay’s transfer to Napoli going smoothly.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reported the latest on this file, noting that Manchester United club chief Jean-Claude Blanc is leveraging his connections with PSG to assist Dan Ashworth and the recruitment team in securing a deal for Ugarte.

This leveraging of connections could be heading in the right direction as L’Equipe recently reported that negotiations between PSG and Manchester United for a loan deal with a €60 million obligation to buy for Ugarte are nearing a successful conclusion.
