Liverpool are expected to remain quiet in the January transfer window, but Arne Slot has previously stated that the club would look to do business if the right player is available in the market at the right price.
The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the January transfer window. The Premier League leaders are keen to make a move for the Georgia international, who has asked to leave the Serie A club this month.
Kvaratskhelia will certainly fit the profile in terms of his skill set, but Liverpool has enough options in his position. Moreover, he is not the only player the Reds are looking to sign.
According to a report from the Northern Echo, Liverpool have come up with a mind-blowing package plan to sign Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo.
The Reds have identified Semenyo as a leading long-term attacking target, and they want to include Ben Doak as a part of the deal for the Ghana winger.
The 25-year-old can play on both left and right wing and he is enjoying a fantastic campaign.
Semenyo has scored six goals in all competitions and could be a terrific addition for the Reds. Bournemouth are determined to keep the player at the Vitality Stadium, but there is an acceptance that they could be vulnerable if Liverpool come up with an offer.
The Cherries value Semenyo at around £50 million, but the Reds are not willing to pay that amount. Instead, they are trying to use Doak as a part of the package to sweeten the deal.
Richard Hughes has great connections with Bournemouth, and if he can pull off the deal, it would represent a great coup for the Reds. Doak is enjoying a great season for Middlesbrough on loan, and he is highly rated by the Reds.
Liverpool have already rejected offers from Crystal Palace for Doak, and they are happy to allow him to continue at Riverside.
Ideally, the Reds should promote Doak to the first-team after his impressive season for Boro, or at least give him proper opportunities during the pre-season, but if he can be used to sign Semenyo at a reasonable price, say within £15-20m, they should look to close the deal.
