Liverpool are going to need to find a fair few bargains if they want to improve their team this summer.
The Anfield outfit have an awful lot of work to do, and, if they don't get enough deals over the line, they could end up in a rather terrible place.
In fact, they could even end up ending their season in a worse position than fifth, which, after winning the Premier League title just two years ago, would be a travesty.
Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet have both been brought in already and, even though Jacquet didn't seem like that much of a steal in January, looking at how inflated the market is at the moment, signing the Frenchman for £55 million was good business.
Despite adding these two players to their ranks, they still need at least another three or four players before they're able to challenge for silverware again.
So, seeing as though the club have so many players to bring in, they're going to need to spend as little as possible on their new recruits so that the funds can be spread evenly which is exactly what they'd be able to do by signing this player.
Arnau Martinez would be an impressive acquisition for Liverpool
Liverpool's defence is one of their main areas that needs upgrading.
Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson have both exited and, since Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni have never played in the Premier League before, their depth is looking a tad weak.
Of course, Virgil van Dijk is still around but there's only so much carrying that the Dutchman can do.
So, the fact that Arnau Martinez's name hasn't popped up as a potential target yet is rather mental.
The 23-year-old is a defender who can be used as a right-back or centre-back and he also has an abundance of experience in La Liga.
The defender has an €8 million release clause, which, in this day and age, is the same price as the compensation that clubs usually pay to get rid of their managers.
So, the fact that a La Liga-proven defender can be bought for that much is absurd.
Liverpool's fans may not have heard much about the 'intelligent' defender before but, on the face of things, it's a move that makes a lot of sense.
Even if you're not a Liverpool fan, you can tell that the Reds need some fresh faces adding to their ranks.
The 2024-25 season may have ended with the Premier League title coming back to Anfield but, in reality, it felt like Arne Slot just won it with Jurgen Klopp's team.
That moment was the peak of all Klopp's work and the hard-work of all his players and, since that campaign was so gruelling, it doesn't really feel like they had a chance to recover, even though they did spend over £450 million on new signings.
However, under Iraola, it feels like things will be different with the culture at the club hopefully being similar to when Klopp was the man in charge.
But, if Liverpool don't get their moves over the line soon, they could find themselves in a similar position to last season where none of their players are gelling.
This is far from ideal and, since the only way they can solve this is by getting all of their new players in as soon as possible, Richard Hughes and Iraola need up step up their transfer game and get some more deals done, before it's too late.
