Richard Hughes and Andoni Iraola have a lot of things to figure out this summer.
Liverpool's first-team squad are in dire need of reinforcement and, without it, they could end up even worse off than they did last term.
This would be another massive fall from grace, especially since they ended up fifth in the Premier League at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
At the very least, Iraola will be wanting to finish in the top four so, in order for him to achieve this, it feels like at least another three or four players need to be added to the Reds' ranks.
That's why the Reds are being linked with so many players at the moment because, if they don't cast their net far and wide, their rivals could steal their targets or they could end up missing out on the bargain of the window.
And, since transfer stories change constantly, the Reds will want to be able to make a move in the market almost instantly, especially if a deal as good as this latest rumour decides to emerge.
One of the main positions that Liverpool are struggling to fill this season is their right-wing.
Mohamed Salah has packed his bags and exited Anfield which has left a bit of a void in the Reds' team.
Indeed, Federico Chiesa, Victor Munoz and Jeremie Frimpong can all be used there if needed but, none of them are long-term solutions.
Liverpool will be wanting to challenge for the Premier League title this term and, without adding a lot more firepower to their ranks, this feels like it will be close to impossible.
However, a fresh update from Fabrizio Romano has shared a potential opportunity that the Reds could be interested in, especially since it would hinder one of their Champions League rivals, Barcelona.
"Barcelona will not match €40m price for Karim Adeyemi and remain confident to get deal done well under that fee," he wrote.
"Adeyemy only wants Barça and will not sign new deal at Dortmund, eventually free to sign on a free from January."
Although Adeyemi may not have had an amazing season since his last one with RB Salzburg, the German is still only 24 years old and can be used on the right and as a number nine.
During the 2025-26 season, the attacker played 39 times for Borussia Dortmund and contributed to 16 goals.
His lightning-quick speed coupled with his ability to pick out a pass are just two reasons why the German would be an ideal signing for Liverpool.
Adeyemi's contract is set to expire in June 2027 so, that's why Barcelona are wanting to pay so little for his services.
But, even at £34 million, it feels like that would be a steal, especially with the amount of Bundesliga experience he has under his belt.
The fact that he's also a natural right-winger is massively helpful for the Reds as, most of their current targets are left-wingers by trade which is all well and good but, unless Cody Gakpo is leaving, Iraola really doesn't need another left-winger.
There's still a lot of time for deals to get over the line of course but, before Barca work their magic and sign the German, Hughes should really consider hijacking the deal and bringing him to Anfield.
