Tottenham kicked off their Premier League campaign in style with a convincing 3-0 victory over newly-promoted Burnley, as Richarlison stole the show with a brace in Thomas Frank’s first league game in charge.
The Brazilian forward opened the scoring after just 10 minutes, slotting home a precise finish into the far corner, brilliantly set up by new signing Mohammed Kudus.
The hosts continued to dominate the first half, creating several chances, though Burnley’s goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka kept the scoreline respectable with a string of saves.
After the break, Richarlison delivered a moment of real quality, producing a stunning bicycle kick to double Tottenham’s lead, again assisted by Kudus, who impressed throughout the match.
Spurs maintained control, and Brennan Johnson added a third soon after, hammering home a right-footed finish to seal the win and put the Europa League winners in a strong position heading into the new season.
Burnley had sporadic opportunities, with Lyle Foster and Jaidon Anthony testing Spurs’ defence, but they were unable to trouble Guglielmo Vicario in the Tottenham goal. Despite a flurry of second-half substitutions from both sides, the home side’s dominance never wavered.
Thomas Frank’s men showed attacking fluidity and defensive composure, a promising start for the Danish manager. With Richarlison already on fire and Kudus linking play superbly, Spurs look set for an exciting season under their new manager.
