Rio Ngumoha made an incredible statement while on international duty and Arne Slot has to listen.

We all thought this season would turn out a lot differently for Liverpool. And probably for Ngumoha as well. The 17-year-old produced some electric performances in pre-season and made five goal contributions in five games.

Ngumoha lit up the crowd wherever Liverpool went. Whether it was in Preston, Japan or Anfield.

Then there was the record-breaking winner against Newcastle United on his Premier League debut. It was supposed to herald more opportunities for him.

So far those opportunities haven't quite come. He's been involved in some games. But his often been thrown against the wolves and made to perform in games where Liverpool were struggling.

There's still been some bright moments.

Against Burnley, Ngumoha's late substitution definitely made the difference and helped Liverpool to breakdown the opposition and get the winner.

Even against Crystal Palace in the League Cup, Ngumoha had some bright moments despite the damning defeat.

But his opportunities have been limited. And it was summed up last week that while Ngumoha was eligible to play for the clubs U18, U19, U21 and first-team he played zero minutes in any of their fixtures.

Whether that is truly beneficial to him is a massive question mark.

But thankfully he's back on the pitch this week and he caught the eye on international duty putting in an incredible performance and making a huge statement with his feet, rather than his words.

Lining up for England's U19 side, Ngumoha was the star player on show, providing an assist against Lithuania on Wednesday night in a 2-0 victory.

Ngumoha's assist was impressive but his overall performance was even better. He completed seven dribbles from 12 attempts, made 18 progressive runs, had 10 touches in the penalty area and created five chances for his teammates.

It was a stunning performance and it sends a huge statement to those watching on at Liverpool.

This is one of the brightest young talents in England right now. He deserves to play more. He should be utilised more and given more opportunities to showcase the incredible potential and quality he has.

Liverpool often struggle in tight spaces when trying to dismantle a deep-lying opposition block. Ngumoha could be the solution to this problem. He thrives in those situations and is very good at drawing out defenders to create space for his teammates to run into.
