Risser surprise as fans omit Kolo Muani and Tolisso in 2026 France squad | OneFootball

With Didier Deschamps set to unveil France’s 26 for the 2026 World Cup on TF1 on Thursday night, more than 93,000 readers have picked their own. According to L'Équipe, voting ran from 5 May and closed at 17:00 on Wednesday, with Risser the surprise inclusion and Kolo Muani and Tolisso left out.

In goal, Mike Maignan dominated with 98.08% and Brice Samba followed on 75.95. The third spot went to Robin Risser with 41.65%, recently named Ligue 1’s best goalkeeper at the UNFP awards, ahead of Hugo Lloris on 33.02 and Lucas Chevalier on 23.54.

Four defenders broke 90%: Dayot Upamecano 97.58, William Saliba 96.93, Ibrahima Konaté 93.91 and Jules Koundé 91.44. Malo Gusto, Koundé’s understudy, drew 81.56, with Lucas Digne at 83.80 the leading left back. Lucas Hernandez 70.96 and Théo Hernandez 63.61 also made it, while Maxence Lacroix 49.15 claimed the ninth berth ahead of Matthieu Udol 25.06 and Wesley Fofana 22.68.

In midfield, Warren Zaïre-Emery led on 96.68, from Aurélien Tchouaméni 94.43. Adrien Rabiot 89.70 and N’Golo Kanté, now in Türkiye, 89.44, were next, then Manu Koné 69.09 and Maghnes Akliouche 68.05. Eduardo Camavinga 56.91 edged Corentin Tolisso 52.38 for the final slot.

Up front, Ballon d’Or 2025 Ousmane Dembélé topped the lot with 98.10. Michael Olise, fresh from a UNFP award as best French player abroad, drew 97.46, with Désiré Doué on 97.08 before captain Kylian Mbappé at 93.81. Rayan Cherki 90.60 and Bradley Barcola 83.05 joined them, and Marcus Thuram 45.04 took the last place as Florian Thauvin 22.55 and Ligue 1 top scorer Esteban Lepaul 20.01 missed out.
