Rivera seals it late as Heerenveen stay ninth | OneFootball

Heerenveen beat Heracles 3-0 in Almelo to stay ninth in the Eredivisie, leaving the hosts 16th in the relegation play-offs.

Before the break, Timo Jansink kept Heracles level with smart stops from Jacob Trenskow. On the stroke of half time, Luuk Brouwers had a goal ruled out for offside in the first minute of first half stoppage time after a VAR review.

In the 55th minute, Jacob Trenskow finished from close range after Dylan Vente's pass. Substitute Maxence Rivera then slipped in Vasilios Zagaritis to double the lead (77.).

A late flashpoint followed. A penalty was awarded when Damon Mirani fouled Brouwers in the first minute of second half stoppage time. VAR confirmed the spot kick, and Rivera converted in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time.

Heerenveen registered 15 attempts with eight on target and controlled 58% possession. Heracles produced eight attempts, testing the goalkeeper twice.
