Rob Edwards remained tight-lipped on Matt Doherty’s future, saying matters should become clearer in the coming weeks. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the Wolves head coach would not be drawn on whether he will stay beyond this summer.
Doherty is out of contract this summer and is the club’s only senior player in that position. The Irishman has served Wolves for 13 years across two spells.
At 34, he may have played his final game for the club. Edwards confirmed he will miss the Burnley fixture with an ongoing knee issue.
The head coach declined to discuss individual cases and did not confirm any new deal for Doherty. He indicated that, going into the last game weekend, decisions could be clarified within a week or two.
Edwards added that he would avoid commenting on players linked from outside the club, preferring to let others speak for now.
