Rob Edwards says Wolves are prioritising character, experience and leadership as they reshape the squad following relegation, with a move under way for Kieran Tripper.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves have agreed a two-year deal with the 35-year-old, with an option of a third, and view him as a figure who will hold team-mates to account once his medical is completed and the contract is signed.

The head coach acknowledged that experience and leadership have been missing this season. He stressed that leaders do not have to be in their 30s, arguing younger players with strong knowledge of English football can set standards too, and he highlighted Mane as a different type of leader.

Wolves have also tied Andre to a new contract, and talks have taken place over bringing Raul Jimenez back to Molineux after his Fulham deal expired.

Early transfer steps have drawn praise from sections of the fanbase after a disastrous campaign. Despite criticism towards the end of the season, Edwards is set to oversee the summer rebuild and says he is energised by the chance to drive change, adding that some current players will remain and new faces will arrive.
