De Zerbi’s stance marks an abrupt end to any hopes Solomon harboured of resurrecting his stalled career under his former Shakhtar Donetsk mentor.
Solomon originally completed a free transfer to Spurs in 2023 following a productive loan stint at Fulham. However, his tenure has been severely hampered by injury.
Just six weeks into his debut season, a severe meniscus tear in training limited him to just six senior appearances before ruling him out for the rest of the year.
To regain competitive sharpness, Solomon was sent on a sequence of loan spells, including a highly successful campaign at Leeds United, followed by mixed stints at Villarreal and Fiorentina.
Having brought in Mathys Tel and Xavi Simons over the last 18 months, Spurs have all but moved on from the ‘unplayable‘ Solomon and De Zerbi has communicated that a clean break is needed.
The winger’s current contract runs until June 2028, meaning Tottenham could collect a decent transfer fee to help fund some of their summer spending.
Leeds retain admiration for their former loanee, while Crystal Palace previously sought to bring him to Selhurst Park before pulling out at the last moment.
