Robinho Jr has reverted to the name Juninho at Santos, marking the change by scoring his first senior goal in a 3-0 friendly win over União São João at Pacaembu.

The 18-year-old, Robson de Souza Junior, used Juninho in the academy, then adopted Robinho Jr and the No seven on promotion. According to Diario Do Peixe, after a calendar pause he asked to switch back on club materials and his shirt.

Juninho came on at half-time, impressed, then won a penalty on 40 minutes of the second half. Gabigol was set to take it, but crowd chants backed the youngster and the captain, the No nine, handed him the ball. He converted for Santos’ final goal.

Head coach Cuca praised him as a promising wide forward who is learning new movements. He said the player is already showing progress, becoming more competitive, and that with youth and time he could evolve further.

Juninho has extended his contract to 30 March 2031, previously April 2027. His camp had pushed for a clear sporting plan and more minutes, while the club wanted a deal in place first. Since Cuca arrived he has gained opportunities, and he will not return to the Under-20s.

He has 23 senior appearances and one assist. He registered an assist in a 3-1 friendly against Desportiva Ferroviária, then made his official debut in a 1-0 win over Flamengo on 16 July, finishing last season with one assist in 15 league matches.
