Robinho Jr., 18, said the dispute with Neymar is over after admitting he was slapped during Sunday’s training at CT Rei Pelé.
He spoke in the mixed zone at Estadio Rio Parapiti after a draw against Recoleta in the Sul-Americana. According to Globo.com, he will withdraw an extrajudicial notice filed against Santos that had accused Neymar of assault.
The disagreement happened in a session for the reserves at CT Rei Pelé, the day after the 1-1 draw with Palmeiras. In a feisty drill, Neymar is said to have felt disrespected after being dribbled and reacted after asking the teenager to ease off.
Arguments and pushing followed. At least one person is said to have seen a trip by the number 10. Neymar apologised at the training ground and the club viewed the matter as closed.
Robinho Jr. said he accepted the apology, wants to focus on results and on Santos, and acknowledged an impulsive response with his representatives that should not have reached the media. He added that he renewed his contract until 2031 and wants to do much more for the club.
The pair are regarded as mentor and protégé at Santos, and both said the situation was settled in the dressing room. After the notice, Santos opened an internal inquiry that is expected to conclude on Wednesday.
