Corinthians have released behind-the-scenes footage from their 1-0 win at Athletico Paranaense in the second round of the Brasileirão, postponed due to the Supercopa do Brasil, at Arena da Baixada. According to Meu Timao, the film, published a day later, centres on Rodrigo Garro’s composure and relief.
The video opens unusually, soundtracked by an old Sócrates interview that nods to Garro’s shirt, with the club icon’s birthday having fallen last Thursday. It then cuts between the teams’ walkout, the crowd, Garro’s superb strike and the celebrations, noting that the Argentine wears the number immortalised by the Brazilian playmaker.
After the title card, cameras follow the squad’s arrival and dressing-room build-up, plus the warm-up on the pitch. Back inside, messages stress that three points are non-negotiable and that possession must force the opposition to chase, with Marcelo Paz, Garro and Hugo Souza leading the rallying calls.
Captain Gustavo Henrique has the final word, urging collective sacrifice. On the pitch, the film shows the teams’ entrance and photo, an Athletico penalty missed, then Garro’s winner. The support is highlighted as restricted to women, children, older people and people with disabilities.
Garro reflects that there is no better feeling than scoring and, better still, winning, before focusing on recovery for Sunday. The staff praise the result and the side’s maturity, while Raniele stresses mentality and staying out of flashpoints, mentioning refereeing and the surface. Corinthians face Portuguesa in the Paulista quarter-finals on Sunday at 20:00, at Canindé.
