Rodrigo Mendoza joins Atlético Madrid from Elche in record sale for Elche

Atlético Madrid moved to reinforce midfield after Gallagher’s departure back to the Premier League and have completed the signing of Elche prospect Rodrigo Mendoza on deadline day.

According to Transfermarkt, his market value is around 15 million euros, the highest in Elche’s squad, and it has risen by 6 million this season.

He had a 20 million euro release clause, and the agreement was reached at that figure.

An academy graduate, Mendoza renewed with Elche in the summer, extending his deal until June 2028. He has represented Spain across all youth age groups.

The transfer is the most expensive in Elche’s history, with the midfielder rising from the club’s academy to the first team.
