Morgan Rogers’ brace earned Aston Villa a 2-1 comeback win over Leeds United at Elland Road.

Leeds started brightly and took the lead in the eighth minute. A set-piece saw Lukas Nmecha pounce on a loose ball in the six-yard box, calmly slotting past Emiliano Martínez to give the hosts an early advantage. Daniel Farke's side looked comfortable after the goal, though both sides wasted chances in a scrappy first half.

Villa gradually grew into the game after the break. The equaliser came in the 48th minute when Rogers fired home from close range following a lovely cross from substitute Donyell Malen.

Unai Emery's men took control and Rogers completed his brace in the 75th minute, bending a precise free-kick into the net to put the visitors ahead.

Leeds thought they had levelled moments later, but VAR ruled out Calvert-Lewin’s effort for handball. The Whites pushed forward in the closing stages, but Martínez and Villa’s defence held firm to secure the win.

The result lifts Aston Villa to fourth in the table, just two points behind second-placed Chelsea, while Leeds drop into the relegation zone, level on points with 17th-placed West Ham.
