Roma and Fiorentina supporters could be barred from away matches for the rest of the season after serious disorder on the A1 motorway on Sunday.

The clash erupted near Casalecchio di Reno when Fiorentina fans travelling to Bologna encountered Roma supporters heading the other way. About 200 ultras were involved before police intervened, heightening concern among authorities. According to TMW, officials are leaning towards a hard-line response.

Meetings are planned in the coming days to assess the situation, and away travel could be prohibited entirely for both sets of supporters as a preventive measure.

Such a move would punish entire fanbases for the actions of a minority, but aligns with a zero-tolerance stance on organised violence.

A similar case earlier this season saw Pisa and Hellas Verona fans initially banned from away games for three months after clashes outside the Arena Garibaldi. That restriction was later lifted early following public criticism and intervention from Serie A officials.
