Roma in talks for Diego Moreira, Strasbourg seek €40 mln | OneFootball

Roma has identified Diego Moreira as their priority target to strengthen their left-back line, fulfilling one of the three main requests made by coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

The 2004-born winger, currently owned by Strasbourg and playing in the World Cup with the Belgian national team, is a profile that already attracted the duo of the Giallorossi coach and sporting director Tony D’Amico during their time at Atalanta.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the French management has set a value of €40 million for the player, but Roma expects to be able to lower the asking price, given the player’s popularity, who is eager to play in the Champions League and is ready to triple his current €800,000 seasonal salary.

The main obstacle for the Roman club is Chelsea, a club owned by the same holding company as Strasbourg (the BlueCo group) and boasting a buyback clause for the Belgian defender.

However, during recent discussions between Roma and the London club to evaluate Alejandro Garnacho, it emerged that the Blues have no intention of opposing the move to Italy, as they are currently focused on the acquisition of Pep Chavarría from Rayo Vallecano, at the suggestion of their coach Xabi Alonso.

The Giallorossi are therefore waiting for Belgium’s World Cup campaign to conclude before making an official offer.
