Matteo Moretto reports that Roma are in contact with agent of Villarreal striker Alexander Sorloth in an attempt to reach an agreement on personal terms, but the Giallorossi have an uphill battle in arranging a transfer fee with the Spanish outfit.

Roma push for Sorloth agreement, but face trouble with Villarreal

Moretto wrote in his Caught Offside’s Daily Briefing column that Roma are in constant contact with Sorloth’s representatives in an attempt to reach an agreement on personal terms.

The bigger challenge for the Giallorossi and sporting director Florent Ghisolif, however, is agreeing terms with Sorloth’s current employers, Villarreal.

The player has a release clause in his contract, reported to stand at €38m, however Villarreal are expected to let the player go for a lower, but still not an insignificant sum.

Corriere dello Sport suggested over the weekend that an offer of around €30m could be enough to convince the Yellow Submarine into selling their starting striker. The Italian outlet also reported that Roma had lodged an initial offer of €20m, which is likely to be turned down.

Moretto reports that Roma and Villarreal will be in contact again in the coming days, and that Roma will continue with their intention to lower the asking price.
