Richard Rios was the target of Gian Piero Gasperini’s attention during Roma’s first transfer window.

The manager had identified the Colombian as a candidate to strengthen the Giallorossi’s midfield, but after a lengthy back-and-forth, the Roman club was overtaken by Benfica, who acquired the 2000-born player.

The player has remained a constant target for the Grugliasco-born manager, and the club is reportedly considering its next moves to accommodate him.

According to O Jogo, if the offer is right, Benfica would be ready to let the midfielder leave.

In addition to Roma, Rios is also being pursued by Inter, Napoli, and several English clubs.

The Colombian is protected by a €100 million release clause and a long contract, valid until 2030, but Benfica is ready to sit down at the negotiating table to listen to offers.

Under José Mourinho’s tutelage, the 2000-born player quickly became a regular starter. In all competitions, he has played 3,184 minutes in 40 games and has scored five goals and five assists.

The Colombian also faced Napoli in the Champions League, punishing Antonio Conte’s men with a goal and an assist.
