Roma are waiting for director Tony D’Amico to work out his Atalanta exit and have turned down an offer from Chelsea for Mile Svilar, while the sale of other linchpins for Financial Fair Play-related reasons hasn’t gained much steam at the moment.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Gian Piero Gasperini would like to keep all the candidates to depart. The Giallorossi will try to cash in on some excess players before pulling the trigger on either Matias Soulé, Manu Koné, or Evan N’Dicka.

Roma rejected €50M from Chelsea for Svilar, which has been the only tangible offer for one of their stars so far. They have to rack up €50M in ‘plusvalenze’ before June 30th. They have received small cash inflows from some loanees. Lens bought out Saud Abdülhamid for €3.5M, while Elche paid €4.5M for Buba Sangarè. PSV will retain Anass Salah-Eddine if they get a discount on their €8M option.

The other candidates are Tommaso Baldanzi, who could stay at Genoa permanently, Marash Kumbulla, who’ll head back initially as Maiorca got relegated, and youngsters Luigi Cherubini and Riccardo Pagano, who were at Sampdoria and Bari last season. Nottingham Forest showed interest in Jan Ziolkowski, whom the Giallorossi value at €15M after spending €6.5M for him last summer.

The capital club is reportedly in talks with UEFA to obtain an extra year to fulfill its settlement agreement.

Our Take on Roma

While it doesn’t take much to set up deals these days, something big would have already happened if they really had to, given the deadline. Perhaps they could get there through minor sales, or they are optimistic about the postponement to 2027. Either outcome would be a masterstroke.
