Marcus Rashford is ‘100 per cent’ set on staying with Barcelona beyond the summer, and with Manchester United ready to facilitate his exit, the ball is in the Catalan giants’ court.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed Rashford’s desires to continue at Camp Nou into 2026/2027, as he is confident he can oversee a better campaign than he has this time around.

Rashford is poised to claim his first-ever league title in the coming weeks, as Barcelona sit atop the La Liga table with an 11-point advantage over second-placed Real Madrid.

Hansi Flick will have to make do without talisman Lamine Yamal for the final fixtures due to his injury layoff, but it seems safe to say that the job is as good as done for the Blaugrana.

How Rashford has fared for Barcelona

In regard to how Rashford has directly impacted his side’s title charge, he has contributed seven goals and eight assists in 28 appearances and 1,490 minutes of action.

However, he has been limited to only 15 starts across the season thus far, which is certainly fewer than he’d have hoped when his loan spell began.

The 28-year-old has been vying with Raphinha for a starting spot on the left flank, while Dani Olmo has also occupied the position on frequent occasions.

Rashford’s record for Barcelona in all competitions

What’s Barca’s stance on signing Rashford?

Yet, with Barcelona renowned for their ongoing and notorious financial woes, reports have suggested they are unwilling to pay the full £26 million of Rashford’s buy clause upfront.

It’s thought they would rather negotiate a lower fee with United or take the Carrington graduate on loan for another year. Unsurprisingly, the Red Devils are closed off to both options.

Romano adds that the connection is strong between Rashford and Barcelona, but there is work to be done if an agreement is to be finalised.
