Ron Gourlay is on a European trip for meetings aimed at refining Carlos Corberán’s squad. His trip coincides with Peter Lim’s presence. The majority shareholder attended the Champions League final in Hungary and Roland Garros in Paris on Monday, though he handed day-to-day control to his son and president Kiat Lim over a year ago.

Gourlay will spend a few days in England. One meeting could be with Leeds United regarding Largie Ramazani, according to Tribuna Deportiva. Talks have explored Leeds’s terms for the Belgian’s continuity, while his attitude in matches such as against Atlético may count against him.

Gourlay wants Corberán to have most of the squad after the break. Valencia return to training on 6 July, with medicals from 2 July, so he is accelerating work. For now there are two signings, De Haas and Dieng, and Dimitrievski has been told of a two-year renewal.

Valencia currently list 19 contracted players from last season, plus the returns of Cenk, Iker Córdoba, Alberto Marí and Canós. Gourlay and Corberán met several times in Paterna last week. Before a short family holiday, the coach finalised needs, exits and potential additions with the CEO.

In those talks, Gourlay said Javi Guerra will remain and stressed he will try to sign Guido. Another option is Andrés García, the Valencian full-back at Aston Villa, who has been told he can leave on loan. Terms would need agreeing with Villa, and Valencia, one of several suitors including Elche, have not yet made a move.
