Rony and Igor Vinícius are expected to bolster Santos for their Copa Sudamericana opener away to Deportivo Cuenca on Wednesday at the Alejandro Serrano Aguilar Stadium, 19:00 Brasília time.

According to Globo.com, both missed Sunday’s Brasileirão defeat to Flamengo, the right back due to a minor quadriceps oedema, the forward suspended after receiving his third yellow card.

The pair linked up with the squad on Sunday night in Rio de Janeiro and trained on Monday morning at the Army Physical Education School facility. Later, Cuca led a small-sided session, while the starters stayed at the hotel for recovery.

Santos travel on Monday afternoon to Cuenca and will train again on Tuesday afternoon, when Cuca is expected to finalise his line-up.

Gabriel Barbosa will not feature, as he undergoes a final PRP session to speed muscular and cellular recovery using his own blood. He is treating right adductor tendinopathy and is due back in training on Wednesday at CT Rei Pelé.

Neymar is also unavailable, remaining in Santos for tailored physical work to withstand the upcoming run of matches until the calendar pauses for the World Cup.

Miguelito reported bilateral posterior thigh fatigue after Bolivia’s World Cup play-off matches and should return to training on Tuesday at CT Rei Pelé. Further absences are Vinícius Lira with a left knee injury, Mayke, who is being rested due to corticosteroid use, and Gabriel Menino with a right hamstring problem.
