Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer has been giving his reactions to Chelsea 2-2 draw with Leeds United on Tuesday night.

After the latest round of Premier League games, Chelsea are still in 5th spot in the league. A late equaliser from Manchester United in their game against West Ham later on that evening was enough to see them keep a point ahead of Chelsea. And Aston Villa also had a late goal last night which saw them take away all three points, putting a six point distance between themselves and The Blues.

Villa boss Unai Emery is not getting ahead of himself there and refused to talk about other clubs or the Champions League race, after seeing his side beat Brighton 1-0 last night.

Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior also spoke about the mistake that led to Leeds’ first goal – he basically blamed Moises Caicedo for his rash tackle without blaming him directly, you can see his sneaky tactic here.

Then the second goal was debated because Rosenior and some Chelsea fans believed there was a handball in the lead up, but Shearer disagrees.

“They had 4 or 5 chances to clear that ball,” Shearer said on Leeds’ equalising goal.

“Rosenior gets it wrong in terms of the laws of the game because it was not the goal scorer who handled it and it was accidental from Bogle.

“But just look at the number of chances the Chelsea defence have to clear the ball and it just falls on a plate for Okafor to put it in there.

“You have got to give huge credit to Leeds for the way they bounced back in the game. Yes it does hit his hand but it is completely accidental and he is not the scorer – Chelsea only have themselves to blame.

“Chelsea should have cleared it, but huge credit to Leeds for the way they came back from 2-0 down – they were completely out of it.

“The chance that falls to Cole Palmer in the last minute, you would want it to fall to him and I don’t think he could believe he missed it either.”
